Here’s the words you will see — be patient…

SKSE is not updated yet for the new version 1.6.629.  Just keep monitoring, like myself and everyone else.  Just focus on the «Current Anniversary Edition» line, and d/l from the link immediately to its right.

did you get up and running? after reading your post a little more closely your running a version  from before JAN.2022…the current version im using is 1.640.0 and with the patcher im running 1.353.0 and SKSE 2.1.5 . you have to searc the web for SKSE LOOK AT WEB RESULTS dont hit enter at the very top of the page is the link to silverlock archives and then you just finds the right one and overwrite your existing SKSE and everything will work. game version 1.640.0 IS BROKE BY BETHESDA nothing any MA can do about it until Bethesda fix the problems they created. alot of MA’s are waiting for this to haqppen before they update their mods because of this. it can take anywhere from a few days to over a month for  Bethesda to fix skyrim  otherwise MA’s would just be running in circles trying to fix what cant be fixed at the moment.

How to Fix SKSE 64 Not Working Issue [Partition Manager]

To install and run mods in Skyrim, you may need to make sure SKSE 64 is installed and operated normally first. However, some people report that they have encountered SKSE 64 not working issue. In this post, MiniTool Partition Wizard offers 3 ways to solve this problem.

Skyrim is a very popular video-game among gamers and many people may like to install mods in this game. To install these mods, the premise is the installation of SKSE 64 (Skyrim Script Extender x64). However, some people report that they have encountered SKSE 64 not working issue.

When I load my game, I’ll get a notification via SkyUI that my SKSE64 is not running. I tried to reinstall the game to get rid of all older mods. I installed SKSE64 and SkyUI but it’s still not working. I have no clue what could be malfunctioning and I have no idea how to find out. I mean I always installed the newest version available… — steamcommunity.com

Then, how to solve this problem? Please keep reading to get solutions.

Fix 1. Reinstall Corresponding SKSE 64

One of reasons why the SKSE 64 doesn’t work is that the installed SKSE 64 version is not compatible with the SSE version. This case usually occurs the first times you use the SKSE 64. To solve this problem, please follow the steps below:

  • Right-click the Skyrim shortcut on the desktop and choose Open file location.
  • In the folder, right-click the game executable file (.exe file) and choose Properties.
  • In the Properties window, skip to Details tab and check Product version
  • Go to Skyrim Script Extender website and download the corresponding SKSE 64. In this step, please make sure the runtime build number is the same as the production version of the Skyrim.

reinstall corresponding SKSE 64

But if there is no suitable SKSE 64 version, you may need to roll back the game or update the game. On the other hand, if the SKSE 64 worked well before and then suddenly the SKSE 64 not working issue occurs, this method may not apply to you and you should try other measures.

Fix 2. Allow Skyrim Through Firewall and Antivirus Protection

The Firewall and antivirus software will protect your computer from virus, malwares, etc. However, they may sometimes block some gaming elements, making the SKSE 64 not work. To solve the SKSE 64 not working issue, please refer to the steps below:

  • Click on the Start Menuand select the Settings
  • Navigate to Updates & Security > Windows Security > Firewall & Network Protection.
  • Click Allow an application through firewall
  • Click on Change Settings and then grant the necessary permissions. Please allow Steam, Skyrim, and all the Skyrim related applications through both Public and Private
  • Click on OK.
  • Come back to the Updates & Security > Windows Security page and then click Virus and threat protection.
  • Click on the Manage Settings option under the Virus & Threat Protection Settings
  • Click on Add or Remove an Exclusion under the Exclusions
  • Click on Add an Exclusion and select Folder. Then, add the Skyrim installation folder to this.

After performing the above steps, run the game to see whether the problem is solved.

Fix 3. Disable Faulty Mods

Sometimes, a certain Mod may have errors, causing SKSE 64 not working. In this case, you should disable these problematic mods. And this may solve the problem.

6. Запускать игру через skse64_loader.exe

— Для поддержки пользователей на компьютерах, которые не имеют права на запись в папку Program Files, лог файлы были перемещены в папку <My Documents> My Games Skyrim Special Edition SKSE .

* Где находится файл skse64.ini?
— Файл skse64.ini (в котором вписываются опции) находится по пути нахождения папки игры Skyrim Special Edition/Data/SKSE/Plugins/

* Как удалить SKSE64?

Skyrim.ini

Overview

How to roll back Skyrim to fix Skyrim SE Script Extender (SKSE64).

Introduction

Skyrim SE has updated & now when you go to play the game a pop up appears:
“You are using a newer version of Skyrim than this version of SKSE64 supports.”
Here’s how you fix it.

Step 1: Get to your game folder.

First you need to know where your game folder is.
It’s pretty simple (unless you’ve purposely installed Skyrim SE in a custom location). Find Skyrim Special Edition in your library, right click it & select “properties”, then click on the “local files” tab & select the “browse local files” option.
You should now have a window that looks like this:
Minimize it for now, you’ll need it later.

Step 2: Open the Steam Console.

To continue we’ll need to open Steam’s Console.
If you’re on windows use the keyboard shortcut “Windows Key + R” to open the Run application.
In the Run application paste the following: steam://nav/console
Then press enter. You should now be looking at a similar window to below:
If you need to go to another tab in Steam, don’t fear, the console tab is now located at the top of the launcher next to your user name.

Step 3: The ‘download_depot’ command & finding the right manifest.

download_depot is a command that can be used to download older versions of games backed up on Steam servers.
The correct command for skyrim se is as follows: download_depot 489830 489833 [manifest id]
But we need a string of numbers that points to an older version of the exe; the manifest id.
To find it, head over to Steam DB’s page for the Skyrim SE.exe: [link]
You’ll probably be looking for the previous version just before the current update, so copy the manifest id from the second entry. In this case the previous version’s manifest id (as of this guide’s creation 3/20/19) is 7531846925655934196.
So the full command is: download_depot 489830 489833 7531846925655934196
Put that into the Steam Console & press enter…
After a moment a new string of info should appear. This lets you know that Steam has successfully downloaded the file & gives you its location.
Copy the location & paste it into a new explorer window. In this case the location would be:
C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscontentapp_489830depot_489833

Step 4 (Final): Click & Drag.

Once you’ve opened the window showing the depot location, click & drag the “SkyrimSE.exe” from the depot into the Skyrim folder that you should have left open from step one. Replace the current exe if asked.
Now you should be able to play the game again.

Epilogue: How to stop this from happening again.

Now that you’ve got Skyrim working again, here’s how to keep the game from updating:
Open the game’s properties again, head to the updates tab, open the “automatic updates” drop down menu & select the “Only update the game when I launch it” option.
From this point on make sure you do not launch the game through Steam or the game’s default launcher. Instead only launch the game using “skse64_loader.exe”
That’s it.

Later you’ll want to actually update the game (by launching it through the normal means) so you can stay up to date w/ the latest version of SKSE64. Typically it takes the script extender team about a week to update SKSE64 when Skyrim SE updates, so check their site[skse.silverlock.org] occasionally.

Skyrim is a franchise that is a hugely celebrated game out of the esteemed Bethesda Game Studios. Besides, Skyrim itself is really a game that has garnered stately support among the game fanatics right from the first of its editions. However, even in Skyrim many of the users have noticed a bug or two, which is hampering the gameplay massively. Among all these SKSE64 not working is notable to mention.

The SKSE64 Error and its Forms:

Many faults with regards to the game and how you are operating can lead you to the same problem. This being mentioned, you also have to remember that the SKSE64 not working can occur in various forms. Most importantly, this error is not coded with a definite error code and thus, resolving such an error is also quite tough and time-consuming as well. So, in this section, we will uncover the error as it is revealed to many. Furthermore, we will also try to deduce the causes that will lead you to perform the solutions more accurately.

If we check up with the error message that halts the SKSE64, if one tries to launch it from my Skyrim Special edition folder, the text goes:

You are using a newer version of Skyrim than this version of SKSE64 supports.

If this version just came out, please be patient while we update our code.

In the meantime, please check http://skse.silverlock.org for updates.

Do not email about this!

Runtime: 1.5.50

SKSE64: 2.0.7

Apart from this, gamers also detect suddenly when they try to load the game via SKYUI that the SKSE64 is not running. This is one of the prominent cases when users face such an issue. Apart from this, they also claim another situation where they have seen SKSE64 2.0.7 not working at all. This is when they go to forge a new character that they are stuck with this problem.

Some Observations and Solutions in case you find SKSE64 Not Working:

To delve deep into the error where you find SKSE64 loader not working, many users have reported that they tried reinstallation of the game to rid themselves of all the previous mods. Then, they installed SKSE64 and the SKYUI subsequently, both of which are of the newest version, but it was to no avail.

In another case, on a venture to model a new character, the users have already decompressed the original file. After this, they went on to copy/paste both the .dll file and the .exe file into

SteamsteamappscommonSkyrim Special Edition folder

Once it is done, they have also copy-pasted and then merged the data folder into the same location as the .dll and .exe. Even in this case, the users claimed that all of their mods are up-to-date. Hence, if you have already performed these, but unfortunately failed to overcome the error, then without any respite go through the solutions below:

Fix 1 – Problems with the Version Update

Most of the time what the gamers think that they are on the latest version of the game when they actually are not. So, if you are in such a circumstance, you should either search online for the appropriate update that you should be in or scout and update the game from within the options that you find in the game.

Fix 2 – Going for the Correct Folder

Many a time you might make a mistake when you erroneously go for the Skyrim SE in the folder pertaining to the update files of the game that you have got on your computer. But this is not the right way to do it. What you need to do here is to get hold of the Depot folder and then put it into the relevant folder of the game. After you perform this correctly, the game might just be up and running as flawlessly as it was before.

Fix 3 – Problems with the Operating System

SKSE64 not working can occur if you are using anything apart from the Windows platform. This is because it is pretty OK with Windows among the other available Operating Systems that are in the market. Therefore, if you are trying for SKSE 64 to run on your Mac, it might just not work out properly.

Fix 4 – Another Method

If the above methods fail and you are still not able to play your favorite game as you have wanted. Here we bring you another really efficient method that always seals the deal.

To start with, you need to take absolute care in downloading the zip file and download it from the official site of Skyrim only. Next, the contents of the zip file must be copied and here the contents are the files and not the folders that might be there in the folder of the game. Remember to copy the files on the game folder where the .exe file is located and not the “Data” folder. After this, you need to zip the “Data”(only) folder of the SKSE that you have dealt with just moments ago. Finally, you need to install it via NMM or MO2.

These are some of the researched solutions that we have managed to compile together which will surely fix your issue once and for all. Do let us know about the solutions and which one works best for you. We will be waiting for your feedback and are quite glad to have it.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What to do if SKSE is not working?

Error code in SKYUI means the [skse] skyrim script extender isn’t operating. This message may also display if a new Skyrim patch has been released; in this instance, wait until the skse has been updated, then install the new version.

How do I run SKSE as administrator?

Try right-clicking the skse loader in file explorer, go to Properties, Compatibility tab, and select Run as Administrator near the bottom.

What is the latest version of SKSE?

SKSE 2.0 is the most recent version.

Skyrim is well-loved by many users but like many other games it can have glitches. Some people report their SKSE64 is not working properly. It might just freeze and show an error message. SKSE64 is short for Skyrim Script Extender 64, and this mod tool plays an important role in applying complicated mods on Skyrim.

Even if you are using an up to date version of Skyrim SKSE64 you might still get this error, which means you won’t be able to start the game after applying your mods. The game might launch but only give you a black screen. So what are some of the causes of this SKSE64 error?

Possible Causes of SKSE64 Error

First of all, the Windows Firewall settings might be the culprit, stopping the gaming elements from connecting to the server. This can result in the game not launching correctly.

Another reason could be your Windows Defender or other antivirus software you have on your machine which is stopping the game from launching. Some over-eager antivirus programs wrongly identify Skyrim as a threat.

Another reason is that the mods you install are causing some kind of a conflict. When you update the game, the mods tend not to work properly and you need to update those too.

If you update Skyrim, the old SKSE won’t work – for this you will need to update both or else roll the game back to the previous version.

Let’s take a look at some of the best solutions to fix this Skyrim issue:

Solution #1: Grant Windows Firewall Access

Sometimes the firewall on a PC can stop various gaming elements, stopping the computer connecting to the game on the server. This will prevent its launch. Try these steps to see whether your Windows Firewall is to blame for the error:

SKSE64 Not Working - Fix - Grant Windows Firewall Access

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Now choose Update and Security.
  4. Choose the Windows Security option on the left.
  5. Choose the Firewall & Network Protection option.
  6. Click on: Allow an application through firewall.
  7. Click on Change Settings.
  8. Allow Skyrim on both the public and private networks, as well as apps related to Skyrim.
  9. Make sure Steam is enabled.
  10. Click OK then run the game to see if the issue has been fixed.

Solution #2: Add an Exclusion to your Antivirus or Windows Defender

Windows Defender, which comes already installed on a new PC, helps protect from threats. The same is true of antivirus software. However, it has been known for this type of software to stop SKSE64 from launching or running, or to interfere with the game. In order to prevent this, you will need to add an exception to Windows Defender and your antivirus program, so they know Skyrim is not a threat.

SKSE64 Not Working - fix - Add an Exclusion to your Antivirus or Windows Defender

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Click on Update & Security.
  4. Select Windows Security on the left side.
  5. Click on Virus & Threat Protection.
  6. Now choose Manage Settings.
  7. Find the Exclusion heading then click on Folder.
  8. Add the Skyrim folder to this location.
  9. Run the game and see whether the error has been fixed.

Solution #3: Roll Back Your Game Version

SKSE64 is supposed to be updated whenever there is a Skyrim update, in order for them both to be able to work together. If Skyrim updates but the SKSE64 has not, then you can roll the game back to the previous version to avoid incompatibility problems.

SKSE64 Not Working - fix - Roll Back

  1. Open your web browser.
  2. Navigate to the Steam Database site.
  3. Type Skyrim in the search field, then click enter.
  4. Find the entry of ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’.
  5. Write down the corresponding APPID number.
  6. Click on the number; a new page will open.
  7. Choose the Depot option.
  8. Write the section ID number which is next to ‘Skyrim Special Edition.exe’.
  9. Click on the number; a new page opens.
  10. Choose the Manifests option.
  11. Write down the number older than the newest release date.
  12. For example, if the update came out 5 days ago, write the number listed before 5 days ago.
  13. Navigate to the desktop.
  14. Right click on the Steam launcher shortcut.
  15. Click on Properties.
  16. Type ‘console’ in the Target box after the earlier text.

Solution #4: Disable Any Defective Mods

Mods can sometimes cause issues which result in this error, if the game updates without the mods also updating. Developers typically release mod updates at the same time as game updates. If the update is taking longer though, you might need to disable any problematic mods until the updates are released.

Try to find the update first, and if it isn’t available then disable the mods only. This is how to disable the mods:

  1. Open the Elder Scrolls game.
  2. Open the menu.
  3. Click on mods.
  4. Find the ones causing the error and disable them.
  5. Restart the game to see whether this helped.

You won’t be able to play Skyrim until you have fixed the SKSE64 not working error, so try the above solutions in the same order they are written. Hopefully one of these fixes will solve the issue.
