xcrun: error: SDK «iphoneos» cannot be located

I’m not experienced so I can’t really pinpoint what is the problem. Thanks for the help.

And was trying to follow the steps below:

Clone the repo

Navigate to clonned folder and Install dependencies

cd react-native-starter && yarn install

Install Pods

cd ios && pod install

When I got to the pod install I’m getting that error.

  1. Launch xcode
  2. Preferences
  3. Locations
  4. Make sure there’s a dropdown option selected for the command line tools.

Fixed it for me.

so here is what works for me:

I think your pod install working fine and has done its job. You need to set up iPhone SDK on your mac then try to run cd ../ && react-native run-ios .

Mac — XCode — SDK «iphoneos» cannot be located — how to fix How to fix the SDK «iphoneos» cannot be located error when working on XCode using MacOS

If you’ve stumbled upon this post, it most likely means that you’re getting this error:

SDK «iphoneos» cannot be located

when trying to run a pod install or perform similar command-line tasks from a Mac terminal while working on a XCode project.

This is a typical scenario when you update a lot of stuff together — such as XCode and CocoaPods.

The fix

Luckily enough, the fix is very simple: open a new terminal window and type the following command:

If XCode is installed, you should see a wrong installation path, such as /Library/Developer/ or something like that: it’s very likely that your XCode installation is located somewhere else — such as in the /Applications/ folder. If that’s so, you can fix your issue by typing the following command:

If the xcode-select command return a «not found» error, it most likely means that XCode is not installed: just install it and try again.

Alternate method using the XCode GUI

If you don’t want to use the macOS terminal, you can perform the same tasks using the XCode GUI in the following way:

  • Open XCode (you need to have it installed)
  • From the main menu, select Preferences
  • Open the Locations tab
  • Make sure that the Command Line Tools parameter has an entry: if not, click on the dropdown and select one (preferably the latest version).
  • Save

Many thanks to @Martin for suggesting this (see the Comments sections of this post)!

Amazing fix, was searching for a good time and this fixes it. Thanks a lot.

Thanks, great explanation. In my case Xcode was basically extracted to

/Downloads. So, the fix was to run: sudo mv

I usually don’t leave any comment, but you tell the exact reason and how to fix it nicely and save my time. thanks

Error: SDK «iphonesimulator9.0» Cannot be located

I recently updated Xcode to 7.1 And downloaded iOS 8.4 And iOS 9.0 Simulator.

iOS Simulator SDKs:

to point to the

iOS 9.0 Simulator or 8.4 Simulator

Simulator — iOS 9.1 -sdk iphonesimulator9.1

1 Answer 1

Legacy iOS Simulator SDKs no longer ship with the latest versions of Xcode. To install an older Simulator SDK, take the iPhoneSimulator.sdk directory from an older version of Xcode ( Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/‌iPhoneSimulator.sdk ), and copy it to your newer version.

For example, Xcode 6.4 comes with the 8.4 iOS Simulator SDK. To install that in Xcode 7, take the directory:

Rename it from iPhoneSimulator.sdk to iPhoneSimulator8.4.sdk .

Copy it to your Xcode 7 Simulator SDK directory:

Observe your new Simulator SDKs:

Error trying to install react native, not building correctly when running pod install

I am trying to learn react native, and I’m running into an issue when trying to to install dependencies. I have installed CocoaPods and followed all steps via the documentation. I am unsure why I am getting this error. When running pod install and pod install —repo-update I am getting the following output:

I have tried googling this problem but have had no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated it!

After some more googling, I found this solution to my problem.

Run sudo xcode-select —switch /Applications/Xcode.app then reboot your machine. CD into iOS directory of your product and run pod install . It should build correctly!

Actually, I got this error when I’m on a macOS Catalina, that was installed on unsupported Apple computer (Mac mini 5.1 — mid-2011)

[0.54.0] IOS pod install error. Module glog cannot be installed #18408

I’m trying to upgrade from 0.42.0 to 0.54.0. When I run pod install I receive an error:

I have tried to use 0.52.0 version, but had same error. Can you advice me how to resolve it?

Environment

Environment:
OS: macOS Sierra 10.12.5 (16F73)
Node: 6.11.3
npm: 5.6.0
Watchman: 4.9.0
Xcode: 8.3.3 (8E3004b)
Android Studio: 3.0.1

Packages: (wanted => installed)
«react»: «16.3.0-alpha.1»,
«react-dom»: «16.3.0-alpha.1»,
«prop-types»: «15.6.1»,
«react-mixin»: «4.0.0»,
«react-native»: «0.54.0»,

Expected Behavior

pod install is executed successfully

Actual Behavior

The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:

I have just tried to install 0.51.0, but have the same issue((( What I do incorrectly?

Overall I think you need to carefully go through the release notes for the 12 versions (!) of react native you are trying to «merge».

There have been many breaking changes.

I suggest you maybe do ‘baby-steps’ of 2 versions per step, while cleaning up the pods & caches every time.

I think if we have an instruction in the documentation we have to get a successful result. I will keep in mind about breaking changes in my source code, but installation must be without such errors.

I have upgraded Xcode version from 8.3.3 to 9.2. Then issue was disappeared))) I think new Xcode have required sdk’s and platforms.

Module glog have been renamed in 0.54 (or 0.53), GLog -> glog , so all paths was renamed, but fs is case-insensitive by default on macOS, so cocoapods run into troubles when try to delete/rename/create folders. :-/

I go through this update with this steps:

I’m still having this issue, having tried all of the above. It happened when I upgraded React Native from 0.52 -> 0.54.4 (and React to 16.3.0).

I have pod —version 1.5.0 & Xcode version 9.2. I’ve tried clearing Pods dir/cocoapods cache, deleting my whole repo and rebuilding, running deintegrate with commits to git each time etc.

Anyone else got any ideas? Not really sure what else to try at this point

Also, bonus information. This podfile below works when I run pod install :

It fails when I uncomment out ‘CxxBridge’ . I then need this spec to be able to archive in Xcode.

The issue is closed but in case if above answers don’t work.
put this in console -> xcrun -k —sdk iphoneos —show-sdk-path
if the answer is
xcrun:_ error: SDK «iphoneos» cannot be located
xcrun: error: SDK «iphoneos» cannot be located
xcrun: error: unable to lookup item ‘Path’ in SDK ‘iphoneos’

Комментарии:
