I’m using Arch Linux 5.3.13-arch1-1
AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Mobile

I have problem on xorg-server,xorg-xinit, i3-wm
when i install pacman -S xorg-server xorg-xinit and try startx command (Added .xinitrc exec i3)
the i3 start successfully, but when reboot system and try startx command
Fatal server error: [    51.827] (EE) AddScreen/ScreenInit message is printed and not working
so remove pacman -Rns xorg-server xorg-xinit and reinstall again..
it works..! only onetimes i really don’t know what is problem.
I already install mesa, xf86-video-amdgpu

xorg.conf. No screens found

Дело такое: отредактировал xorg.conf, после чего не загружаются иксы, то есть после загрузки передо мной просто консоль. При запуске иксов Fatal error: no screens found. Подскажите, пожалуйста, как избавиться. Бекап не сделал и сам знаю что очень зря(( За это, просьба, не пинать.

Перезагрузиться. На экране появится выбор вариантов загрузки. Выбрать «режим восстановления» (recovery mode). Далее система спросит, что хотите сделать. Выбрать пункт «восстановить Xorg» (restore Xorg).

Чтобы попробовать Убунту, достаточно запустить её прямо с диска!
Не путайте Убунту с Кубунту и прочими!

Такая у меня проблема, установил kubuntu 9.10 на ноутбук, как бы работает но притормаживает немного графика, подгружается процессор. Соответственно не работают 3D эффекты, в инете нашел статью (http://howtoforge.com/ubuntu_feisty_beryl_ati_radeon) как включить эти эффекты как раз под мою видеокарту ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 [Mobility FireGL 9000]. Проблема ещё в том что у меня нет файла xorg.conf. Я попытался создать и записал в этот файл настройки как указано по ссылке выше, но система не стартовала в граф режиме и я удалил этот xorg.conf созданный мной, а система мне создала файл под названием xorg.conf.failsafe. Отсюда вопрос к участникам форума, как сделать правильный xorg.conf ? (В ЛИНУКСЕ Я НОВЕНЬКИЙ!!!!!)

Покопайтесь в форуме Убунты — там эта тема «разобрана по косточкам» давно.

Искал-нашел -вот что получил:

ничего не происходит.

Попробывал под sudo.
~$ sudo Xorg -configure

Вы когда видите такие сообщения попытайтесь хотя бы перевести что вообще пишут вам…

Иксы не должны быть запущены во время запуска команды, попробуйте сначала сделать:

I have a serious problem with Xorg server on ubuntu 12.04 (with nvidia 420M GT card).

At home I am using an external monitor connected to my laptop’s HDMI port — the external display is used as extended. But then when I leave my house and go e.g. to work I don’t use it anymore but my xorg’s config file remains as it was and then some bad things happen. For instance — every time when I boot after disconnecting the external monitor I get some not default font and bigger than usual + some windows with errors about not compatible resolution modes.

But today I have tried to boot normally without the additional monitor and xorg server has failed and I cannot boot to GUI. I am receiving this

I have also received error that screens have been detected but none of them has a proper configuration file but then I have tried to reset xorg to its defaults (in failsafe mode) with 

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

(I got no output form that ) and now I am stuck with this. To be honest — I have this error while trying to log on to failsafe mode and get the ubuntu splash image when trying to boot normally.

If you’re running off a live USB disk or changing your graphics card the error below might appear when Xorg is looking for the wrong drivers or device. You might also get this error while using the Nvidia drivers, I found however this was caused by some of the extra options added into the xorg.conf file (usually located /etc/X11/xorg.conf). If the case is that it’s a problem with the aditional options I suggest making a backup of the file and attempting to comment out (#) aditional options, this will need a bit more of an expert eye to see what isn’t needed though.. You can also use the following to rollback to a working version when using the Nvidia drivers.

There is a pretty simple fix, if it is caused by broken or changed xorg.conf file:

Fix:
Make a backup of your current Xorg.conf, just in case something goes even more wrong and it can be easily restored:

sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.bckup

Now you’ll want to restore the failsafe (sometimes called xorg.conf.backup) config to be used as the default:

sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.failsafe /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Yeah, it was that simple (if this error was caused by a broken or changed xorg.conf anyway. So you can continue and start the x server with:

startx
