Here are important tips for all xprog users when they got this problem “verify error” during reading motorola mcu, and after try several time is read maybe.
Xprog software used:
Usually two xprog with same problem v5.45 / v5.55
The MAIN reason & solution:
Xprog version 5.5.5 is not so stable, find download 5.5.1 and downgrade it, its the most stable for clones available
Possible reasons and solutions:
– Internet issue
Reinstall on fresh PC, and don’t connect that to internet!!! Internet off.. then rewrite firmware v555
– power supply problem
Check power supply to xprog
– virus problem
Only fresh OS and fresh software, directly from disk or from safe link…doesn’t mater if internet is on or off…etc
Only virus problem…tested 1000%

Xprog 5.5.1 update steps:
1. Erase chip atmega 64
2. Program eeprom , Flash
3. Set Lock bits and fuse bits. Program lock bits, fuse bits.
4. Copy Xprogbox 5.51 to C: and run Xprognew.reg
5. Run XprogDesktop.exe and update .

I had same problems today with 5.5.5, after few weeks i’ve got verify errors on motorola and 5p08c eeprom . What i did was deleted xprog folder (it was without instalation without dongle), go into registry editor (win xp) search for “xprog” deleted all registry keys with that tag and again copied clean folder (instalation) of xprog software and it worked. Also i disconected internet connection before everything.

I had the same problem,with 555 firmware, reading always different data, but sometimes correct,just sometimes.I back to 551 firmware and reading now without problem,may be need some hardware modification

had same story with 5.5.5 downgraded to 5.5.1 and used no dongle software with new usb cable and now all running smooth it was ver 5.5.3 with dongle when i got it so i want up up and back down 5.5.1 is stable and no problems

XProg-m V5.55 Verify Errors
HI, i bought a Chinese clone a few weeks ago & it’s worked fine until yesterday. I tried to erase/write & read a 9S12 MCU from a BMW footwell module & it looked like all was ok until it started to fail on verify. Every verify fails in different addresses, completely random. This was with the BDM board attached which i always have to use with this particular chip.
Next i tried to do the same with a different 9S12 MCU which doesn’t require the BDM adaptor & exactly the same error so it is the XProg itself that is at fault.
Anyone have any ideas why this should suddenly happen (yes i know its cheap Chinese copy but it was working fine last time). Are there any changes i can make or is it destined for the rubbish bin ?

Thanks for the reply Mario3, i understand what you are saying about 5.5.5 but it has been stable on these particular processors from the FRM modules since i bought it a couple of months ago. It used to verify first time every time so i don’t quite understand what has changed. Does the Atmega corrupt ? in which case why does it write at least 90% ok, wouldn’t it be more likely to be a hardware issue ?
Also , my XProg has a dongle, if i downgrade will i still need to use the dongle & will i lose all the ‘Authorisations’ that i have ?

No you wont lose authorisations, and the versions with dongle are known to make problems

Ok but still i am wondering what changed ? it was working stable for several weeks.

No. It just stops working the same with older versions 5.3 adn 5.4.5…. reflash it to 5.5.1 and it will be fine. It can be a hardware issue too but isr unlikely

Is definitely a software problem, something is changed it xprog box files. I have the same problem and I rewrite all the files of xprogbox software and problem is gone. After a while the problem reappear whit the same solution. I don’t have it in c: program files , may be that’s why is happening.

Is possible use X-prog 5.55 in back version ??? Im buy clone last week,and have one problem with CD contains in package. From internet Download 5.50 versions and the software run OK and recognize device,but tried read one 95160 and the software show one banner » Need update device «. Here find download 5.55 software version and device read OK. My x-prog is without dongle.

Software re-reinstall on PC didn’t work so now looking at flashing the Atmega (although i am worried aboutl osing my authorisations)
One more question, when flashing the Atmega on the XProg box do i need to remove the chip or lift any pins ? (please say no
)

)CORRECTION: I just did another complete software re-install & it only blinking works doesn’t it.
I uninstalled Adobe Reader, went through the registry & deleted all references to Xprog, deleted ALL files previously installed from the RAR file & i ran remove.bat from the PACTH directory. Extracted all files & foldersagain from the RAR archive into the Program Files directory & re-installed & it has read & verified every time, fantastic !!

UPDATE: spoke tooo soon, still getting verify errors when i write a file, it seems to verify ok after an erase so looks like i will have to reflash the Atmega.

check the drivers/usb port, soundslike it’s not talking to the box, do any LED’s come on ?

Я тоже работаю этим прогером с питера, проблем нет, внешку вообще не использую, все делает через usb ——————— FAP/DPF OFF, Adblue/SCR OFF, EGR/AGR OFF, TVA OFF, SWIRL OFF, O2/Lambda OFF, DTC OFF, IMMO OFF, SRS CLEAR CRASH and more. |

у меня такая же проблема, с 912 , хотя изначально вроде не было. и я тоже читал флеш с 912, от нех делать, но связи не заметил, просто не обратил внимание, может и реально после чтения, иногда по 10 раз читать писать приходится, а если забить на ошибки на нажать продолжить то панель работает нормально. |

Xprog-m certification
We have xprog-m original and clone. We use clone only with cracked soft on indepeant laptop, however since its last use we only get divice is silent. If we click on Help>Hardware info, we get green light then a dialogue box stating «Device is silent». Soft is communicating thus green light. Has this clone counter reached its max? Or is a certificate problem? Unit will not read anything, just says device is silent.
