Your sound driver is currently used by another application как исправить

The sound hardware is in use by another app cs go как решить

Обновлено: 09.02.2023

I have a 64-bit Windows 7 Enterprise install running on a Dell OptiPlex 9010. I connected the monitor to the computer using the video card’s Display Port. The port on the monitor is HDMI. The video card is an AMD/ATI Radeon HD7970. The AMD Catalyst package is not installed, but an updated driver was installed when the computer was imaged with MDT. Sound only comes out of the computer’s built-in speakers and not through the speakers in the monitor. When I go to set the «AMD HDMI Output» as the default audio device, and test it, I get a message indicating.

Nothing is running at this point. I’m trying this after I log in and after a reboot. The sound is configured like this.

I tried to use Process Explorer to see what might be using the device, but I really can’t make too much sense out of what it is showing me. Has anyone else run across this issue?

2. Are these programs now installed on your computer?

3. What happens when you try using volume?

4. Do Windows sounds play fine?

Step 1: Run the Playing Audio troubleshooter and check if it helps. Refer the below mentioned article for the same.

Step 2: If the programs are installed on the computer, try uninstalling them and check if the issue persists. Here`s the link on how to uninstall a program.

Step 3: If sound works fine after uninstalling the program, then you might have to contact program manufacturer to report the problem.

Camera being used by another app.

Hi Jerry. I’m Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Try resetting the Camera app at Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Camera > Advanced Options.

Try the Hardware & Devices troubleshooter at Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.

Try Updating the webcam driver from the PC maker’s Support Downloads webpage for your exact model. Install it even if it’s the same or newer than the one in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button.

Also compare all other drivers including Chipset, display, sound, etc to make sure you have the latest on the PC maker’s Support Downloads web page.

Right click Start button to access Device Manager, locate Webcam device (if necessary from View tab Show Hidden Devices), on Driver tab see if Roll Back is available, if not try Update Driver, first automatically, then Browse, then Let Me Pick to try all previously installed Drivers.

If these fail try to Uninstall the Driver, restart PC to reinstall.

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

This is the most stable way to change to the newer version and because it reinstalls WIndows while keeping your files and programs in place, fixes most problems. It also brings all Windows Updates to date.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it’s resolved.

One of the reasons why you’re getting this error message when trying to use the camera is closing your Windows 10 operating system without closing the application you used the camera on. In this case, the camera is still running in the background registries of Windows 10.

To resolve this issue, we suggest that you run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter. If the issue persists, go to Windows Store and check if there’s a need to update the Camera app.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

If you get the error message “the device is being used by another application” in Windows 10 when using HIDM cables to connect devices to an external display, what should you do? Now, try these methods mentioned in this post from MiniTool and you can easily get rid of the error.

Windows 10 Audio This Device Is Being Used by Another Application

HDIM, short for High-Definition Multimedia Interface, is used to connect multimedia interfaces. You can use HDIM cables to connect computer and video monitors, HD and Ultra HD TVs, digital cameras, camcorders, video projectors, etc. to your computer. If you want to watch various media on a big screen, HDIM cables are very helpful.

However, you may encounter problems with HDIM when connecting devices using HDIM cables. For example, there is no sound or you see an error message: “Device In Use – The device is being used by another application. Please close any devices that are playing audio to this device and try again”.

If you continue, that application may stop working. The error usually happens on your microphone, speakers, headphones, etc.

The main reason for the device is in use by another application error is the corrupted HDMI audio driver installed on your computer. Additionally, there are some other reasons, for instance, some other application has exclusive permission to use the device and the audio device crashes, etc.

Luckily, you can fix this issue by following these methods below.

Tip: When testing your speakers, you may encounter another issue with the sound – failed to play test tone. To get solutions, refer to this post — Failed to Play Test Tone on Windows 10? Easily Fix It Now!

Solutions to Device Being Used by Another Application

Roll Back the HDMI Audio Driver to a Previous Version

If you have recently installed an updated sound driver, perhaps it is the culprit behind “the device is being used by another application”. It isn’t unusual that a newly released driver has a compatibility issue or a bug causing the error.

In this case, you can roll back the driver to a previous version. This can help uninstall the currently-installed driver and then install the previously-installed driver.

Step 1: Open Device Manager in Windows 10.

Step 2: Expand Sound, video and game controllers, right-click your audio device and choose Properties.

Step 3: Under the Driver tab, click the Roll Back Driver button and follow the guide on the screen to finish the operation.

Tip: If you find Roll Back Driver is greyed out, this method doesn’t work for you and you should try other solutions.

Update the Audio Driver

“Windows 10 HDIM output the device is being used by another application” can be caused by a faulty or incorrect audio driver. In this case, you can try to update the driver to fix this issue.

Step 1: In Device Manager, right-click your audio device and choose Update driver from the context menu.

Step 2: Choose an option to update the driver. Here, we choose to let Windows automatically search for updated driver software.

Step 3: Windows will search for the updated driver and install it.

Restart Windows Audio Service

Windows Audio service manages audio for Windows-based programs. If you stop this device, audio devices and effects cannot function properly. Any services that depend on it will not start or give rise to errors if the audio service is disabled.

To get rid of the device in use error, you should restart the Windows Audio service.

Step 1: In the Run window (opened by pressing Win + R), input services.msc and press Enter.

Step 2: In the Services window, right-click Windows Audio and choose Restart.

restart Windows Audio Service

Disable the Option of Allow Applications to Take Exclusive Control

According to users, simply closing other apps that may be using sound and disabling the option of allow applications to take exclusive control can be helpful to fix “the device is being used by another application” in Windows 10.

Step 1: Right-click the speaker icon and choose Open Volume Mixer.

Step 2: You can see the applications that are using the sound. Then, you need to open Task Manager and disable these apps.

Step 3: Right-click the speaker icon again and choose Playback devices.

Step 4: Choose your default audio device and click Properties.

Step 5: In the Advanced tab, uncheck the box of Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.

Final Words

Here are common solutions to the device being used by another application. If you are also bothered by the device in use error in Windows 10, try these methods at once and you can easily get rid of the trouble.

I tried to change my speaker setup and every time I click «test» I get this error message on Windows 7 SP1. I tried running «sndvol» to view the applications list but the list is empty.

Since I tried to test the new speaker setup, I’m now left without sound for all applications and can’t get sound even if I switch back.

I have not updated my sound drivers so I don’t know what could have changed.

What could be causing this?

I had the same error on Windows 7 and managed to fix it by simply restarting the Windows Audio service.
If it doesn’t work, disable and re-enable the sound device using device manager.

In the properties of your audio device, there should be a checkbox option labelled «Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device». IIRC it is enabled by default; disabling it and rebooting should resolve your issue.

Best to combine both answers here.

As a resolution for now, execute in elevated prompt

net stop "AudioSrv" && net start "AudioSrv"

This restarts the Windows Audio Service. (Reboot will also work.)

To prevent future problems, disallow apps to get exclusive control to the device by going to sound -> (select device from list) -> properties -> advanced -> Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device .

I had the same problem, and I solved it by installing an update (Chipset_Intel_Win_8) from the Asus website. I have an Asus RS51.
